Barometric Woes

We’re a lot more affected by weather than we’re willing to admit. Older folks complain of stiff and painful joints when its cold or rainy. Not many of us are big fans of the oppressive summer heat here in the southeast USA. Perhaps one of the harshest ways the weather hits us is the headaches caused by barometric shifts. For the many who are sensitive to that, those headaches are unavoidable, uncontrollable, inconvenient at best and intolerable at worst. Unless you know about homeopathic Kali bichromium!

Practical homeopaths use Kali bichromium 30c, which is prepared from bichromate of potash. Yes, the same potash used in tye-dyeing. In its gross form it’s definitely not something we would recommend ingesting, but in homeopathic form it’s diluted and prepared in a way that is safe and incredibly effective at stimulating the body’s ability to maintain a healthy balance in spite of barometric changes. If you suffer headaches or sinus pain when the weather changes, maybe Kali bi will help you rise above!

The Dreaded “Stomach Bug”

I’m armed and ready to defend my household against Norovirus, and you can be, too! Arsenicum album, Nux vomica, Ipecacuanha, and Veratrum album are my favorite homeopathic remedies for “the stomach bug.” These remedies are all single-source natural substances, prepared in a very precise manner in a homeopathic pharmacy like OHM or Boiron, and each has its own medicinal personality. For example, when someone is suffering from what feels like (or actually is) food poisoning, making them weak, ill, and restless, I grab the Arsenicum. If they’re weak and can hardly exit the bathroom, Veratrum album is my go-to. If they’re the kind of person that can’t stop throwing up once they start, my first thought is Ipecacuanha. If their illness is the result of being overtired, overworked, or having overeaten, it’s a call for Nux vomica.

Usually after a dose or two of the right remedy in relatively quick succession they’re feeling much better and we can move to the stage of ginger ale and saltines, with another dose if or when they start feeling nauseated again.

Isn’t that better than just suffering through it? Better than dragging them out to a care center, assuring that others are exposed to their illness (and they’re exposed to others’ illnesses), and paying for medical fees as well as prescription meds that may come laden with side effects that last long after the illness has passed? Of course this is just my opinion, but my family and I much prefer to heal ourselves naturally and in our own homes.
