This is the fourth episode in a series highlighting homeopathic remedies I carry with me all the time. There are almost 50, so it will take a while to complete!
When something weird shows up on your skin, it’s often an indication that your body is trying to eradicate something from under the surface. Not always, but often. That’s why something you eat can cause a rash, or stress can cause hives. Your skin is your largest organ – isn’t that amazing?
Practical Homeopathy(c) teaches that Antimonium crudum – affectionately known as “Ant crud” here in our house – is one of the first remedies to consider when skin is involved. In its gross form (how you’d find it in nature) it looks like this:

You might wonder how a homeopathic medicine gets made from a… rock?? I’m so glad you asked! When homeopathic medicine is made from plant sources, the pharmacist starts with a tincture and takes that through the process of dilution and succussion that creates a homeopathic potency. With minerals, the process is called trituration. There’s a great article about that here. I am thankful to work with several wonderful homeopathic pharmacies, so I don’t have to do the trituration process at home – especially since many of the best homeopathic remedies are pretty toxic in their gross form! Pharmacies I know and trust include Boiron, Ollois, Washington Homeopathics, Helios, and OHM.
